December 26, 2010

Yay! Yesterday was wonderful, besides it being Christmas, I got to speak on the phone with Elder Kaaihue! He is doing great! Serving on the island of Utila, his companion is the current Branch President and so they are very busy with the things of running the Branch. He said it is a beautiful, small, island that is somewhat touristy due to the 2nd largest reef in the world that is there. He has enjoyed meeting people and they just recently moved their Sunday meeting place from a 2 bedroom small house to a much larger building that is upstairs from the bank. Before he hung up he bore his testimony in Spanish, it was neat to hear him speak another language so fluently! He is so happy and filled with the Spirit. I am so grateful for this opportunity he has to serve and grow. Thank you for all your love & support!

A week in the life of a missionary...

Hey Mom, Oct. 4,2010

First of all what an awesome weekend we have had, to hear our beloved Prophet and President of the true church of God! My heart is full of the love y'all have given me my entire life, especially after hearing President Hollands talk. Sometimes out here in Honduras I take for granted the love and support I get abundantly from y'all! So, I want to start out this letter with a big Thank You. Thank you for being the sweet little mommy that any 20 year old boy would want.

So what a week I've had! Tuesday- we had a great morning and we set some goals to perfectly obedient to have a stronger spirit for conference, so we started to do EVERYTHING right. After lunch we headed out to teach a boy named Marcos and his little sister, we taught them L3, then we headed to Eludina where we taught Mosiah 3 and baptism, then we taught Nancy my favorite investigator about 3 Nefi 11. we also found out she is 39 when she looks 27 like you mom! After that we headed to Darwin to visit him but he wasn't home so we headed up and visited Mindy and taught her about chastity

Wed- my second favorite day of the week! started off with a Spirit filled morning in our district meeting with President Veirs and the assistants then afterwords they took us out to eat! yeah!! after eating this heavy lunch we headed to Dani's and taught him about conference and about Mosiah 3 than we taught Armando L1, after that we headed to Emni's and put another apt with them then headed to our cooks house for dinner!

Thurs-great day! started off with a great study and what not then we headed to lunch for the last time with the Navarro family. after lunch we taught Marcos about the Atonement and we put the fecha or baptism commitment with him and his sister for the 9th of October so please pray for them (Marcos and Olga Maria). Then we taught Eludina about the BOM. went well, then we taught Nancy about the Bom and watched the Restoration video with her! after her we got our rent from the bank then headed to the visitas specials haha I mean special visitas where we visited the hermanna Lorena we taught her about the importance of the little things, prayer , family home evening, and scripture study. then we visited with Marco Antonio with the same message but more emphasis on how they are doing with those things instead of starting to do them. then we came home for bed!

Friday!-started off great again! but we ate lunch with hna Doblado, our District(Stake of branches) Presidents wife! shes a little crazy but its nice eating lunch with people who know A LOT about the church and with whom we can discuss deep doctrine! after lunch we bought some cool Real Madrid soccer team stickers then we headed to Eludina and taught her Word of wisdom and chastity! then we taught Julia Emni and Fernanda about the restoration video by watching it, then we taught the Funez fmaily L1 which went super well! then we went home.

Sat-we watched wonderful conference all day!!!!!!! and I think I saw Cole Romney in the choir for priesthood but I didn't see Sterling.

Love, Elder Kaaihue

Mother's Day

Wow! Time flies, Wikoli has been out serving for over 2 months now! He has been sending voice recordings instead of typing and I'm not sure how to add a voice recording on this blog, if you know how, leave me a comment please. Anyway since yesterday was Mother's Day I got to talk to him over the phone, it was so nice to hear his voice & communicate back! He is super busy and said the people are very nice and always willing to give you their time. They currently are teaching 12 different families. Here is a picture he sent for Mother's Day, what a sweetheart.

1st message from Honduras

Hey Mom! what an adventure this has been! one week & I already feel right at home. I'm in an area called Progresso right outside Honduras. There is one paved road going through town, the field is deff white. I love it here. The people are humble and always will give you time. They remind me a lot of Samoans. They act just like them. its weird cuz the other day we taught a family that literally lived in a mud shak. They are receptive to hear the gospel. My comp is elder willie he is from Oregon and has been here for 11 months already. I'm pretty mad at him already because Saturday was his birthday and we didn't do any teaching or tracking or anything but we did have a baptism :) my first one. our ward is great. I got to confirm Jorge our newest member and give a talk completely in Spanish my first week hahaha.how fun right? thanks for the goodies they were sooo good. and soo needed. only elder Rivas is in my zone everyone else got sent to diff cities. I love it here and fill right at home. I also feel so safe weird but true, angels are definitely with and all around us. love you all, take care and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask! Les amo

March 12th

Hi,
This week has been amazing to say the least! we got our flight plans yesterday! we leave the 22nd. Time is flying bye! I don't think I've ever had so much fun doing stuff related to the Gospel haha sad, huh? I'm doing great working harder than ever and staying focused. Thanks for the brownies! they were DELISH!!! I love them. Yesterday we discovered the pillow room which is a room the size of my bedroom full of pillows. What an adventure that was! haha can you imagine a bunch of 19 yr olds having a pillow fight? haha it was priceless. Hows life back at home? I saw aunt Nanette's nephew the other day. Elder Mecham going to Fiji, we talked for a bit. He is a great guy. Hope all is going well. I love you and have a great day! Don't forget to smile cuz the Lord is on our side :) BYEEEEEEEE

New Letter from the MTC Febuary 19, 2010

hola!

sounds like life at home is going great! these past few days have been unbelievable! I've been here a month and have noted some major growth in my life spiritually and physically :) in gym i can dunk pretty easy now! well when I'm wide open! i think my shirts are getting small JK but I'm working hard and every night it feels like my head hits the pillow and my alarm goes off:) but I've seen so many people here i know its awesome! I see Elder Te'o pretty frequently even Tui Crichton! i met this Tongan and Samoan last night and gave them some money to get some stuff out of the vending machines and they sang to me in either Samoan or Tongan but it was soo beautiful! when i get back I'm definitely going to learn Samoan!!!! i sent you your dishes and some Samoan stuff hope you like! you can give the Duty to god book to bishop por favor! time flies when your having fun and this has to be the happiest I've ever been in m life! i just cant wait to get to Honduras! and no more letters in Spanish. dads letter was wrong in so many ways, tenses, grammatically, spelling just please stick to English! haha but I'm not stressing or troubled by whats going on outside these walls. I'm too busy too dwell on anything but the Gospel which is a blessing. we also had a great speaker Brother Jones of the 70 tell us about not keeping one foot at home and one foot in missionary work so I've been striving to better myself that way! I have my own prayer roll every night so if you need anything specific let me know! its good to hear that everyone's still the same and that you have big plans this summer cuz guess what! I'm the same and i have even bigger plans for this summer! hahahahahah Pre-owned! :) well time is out so just keep writing me! everyday even if its just an i love you! thanks for all your love and support and keeping me in touch with my family! haha
